Privacy Policy

SecureShield Tips (secureshieldtips.com) publishes digital-privacy and security guides for everyday US internet users. Practicing what we preach, we collect as little visitor data as a modern website reasonably can. This page explains exactly what that means.

Data We Collect (and Don’t)

  • We collect aggregate usage statistics through Google Analytics 4 (pages read, time on page, coarse geography). We do not build individual visitor profiles.
  • Comments store the name and email you choose to submit, plus your IP address for spam filtering.
  • We run no newsletter, no account system, and no tracking pixels of our own.

Ironically for a privacy site, our advertising partner (Google) does use cookies — the section below explains precisely what that involves and how to opt out, using the same techniques we recommend in our guides.

Advertising and Cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners use advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors may also use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information for ad personalization and measurement.

  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of many third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info/choices or the NAI opt-out page.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; parts of the site will continue to work normally.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, session duration, approximate geography derived from truncated IP addresses). We do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Your Privacy Rights

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information for money; cookie-based ad personalization may qualify as “sharing,” which you can opt out of using the cookie controls above. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

EEA/UK visitors (GDPR): where GDPR applies, our lawful bases are consent (advertising cookies) and legitimate interest (site operation and security). You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (45 days under CCPA).

Data Retention and Security

Server logs and analytics data are retained on rolling schedules set by our hosting provider and Google Analytics (14 months). Comment data is retained while the comment is published. We use HTTPS across the entire site.

Changes and Contact

We will post any changes to this policy on this page with an updated date. Questions or requests: yjs09010@gmail.com — or use our contact page.
